Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) recently congratulated resident Michael Mienko, a prospective eagle scout, for his volunteerism during a Boy Scouts of America Blue and Gold Dinner. 

To complete his eagle scout project, Mienko made a display case filled with artifacts from the Civil War and donated it to the North Shore Historical Museum. He also helped to coordinate a Civil War Education Day, which allowed elementary students in the Glen Cove School District to learn about the history of the city.
