Bites Nearby: Hundred Roll Sushi

Japanese Fusion restaurant offers eye-catching sushi.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Hundred Roll Sushi

Located at an inconspicuous location, in the right-hand corner of the Stop & Shop shopping center on Forest Avenue, Hundred Roll Sushi is a Japanese Fusion restaurant with a cool modern interior.

The service was attentive and very pleasant during the lunchtime shift. Their lunch specials include any two rolls for $9.75 or any three for $12, which also comes with Miso soup or salad.

For dinner, there is a wide variety of appetizers to choose from, including Edamame, shrimp or vegetable tempura and fried oyster. Try their version of fried calamari. It’s covered in a sweet and tangy sauce and is perfect for those who enjoy just a hint of spice.

They also offer over 100 different kinds of rolls to choose from (they’re not called “Hundred Roll Sushi” for nothing!). The California roll is a must-have. The fish was fresh and nicely prepared. For a a more adventurous sushi experience, try the Tokyo roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail inside, cucumber skin outside). It was also very fresh and delicious-tasting. The best part was the crunchy “tempura” flakes drizzled around the outside, which gave it an amazing texture.

Hundred Roll Sushi offers free delivery with a $20 minimum order within eight miles. Gift certificates are also available. Friend them on Facebook (username: Hr Su) to receive daily and weekly specials, discounts and promotions. They can also be reached at hr.sushi@hotmail.com.
