Glen Cove Petco Hosting 'Doggybowl'

Donations taken at Feb. 2 event will benefit the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League.

Dog owners are invited to bring their four-legged friends to Petco Saturday, Feb. 2 for Doggybowl, where pups can don team colors the day before the big game to do some rushing and tackling of their own.

The event is in its second year. Last year's activities were enjoyed by French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and Pugs, inspiring a "smushed face" theme this time around.

“We're so excited to have our Superbowl Smushed Faced meetup inside this year - just like the real superbowl being held under the dome in New Orleans! We encourage owners and their dogs to wear their Jerseys with pride without having to worry about the weather. We're grateful to PETCO Glen Cove for hosting this great event and for helping us raise money for the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League,” said a statement from Robyn Elman, president of In Home Pet Services, Inc., the company behind the event.

This year's match was organized by IHPS's Heather Lehrman.

A photographer will be on-site to take pictures of each dog in their gameday gear. All donations received for the photos will go to the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League. A raffle will be held and each dog will be sent home with a goody bag.
