Jack's Shack celebrated its grand opening and induction into the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce Friday, Jan. 20, in Glen Head. The ceremony was hosted by owner William Jack Degel.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi, Assemblyman Charles Lavine and Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton were also in attendance:

"It's great that we can add a place like this to our fine city's Chamber of Commerce," said Suozzi.

The new eatery uses organic ingredients and hormone-free meat, fish and poultry in all of their products. They are known for their burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, tacos, salads and smoothies.

In addition to putting a healthy twist on fast food, all of their furnishings and construction materials are made from recycled goods.

"It's great that everyone came out to be here today," said Degal, who added that he named Jack's Shack after his great uncle who owned a steakhouse in the '30s.

Hi BGK: The restaurant was inducted into the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce. Our apologies if we did not make that clear.

Closed by the Town of Oyster Bay as of Jan 30. Willie seemed to think that he could just give the Building Dept the finger.
This place would have been welcomed by local residents but the food was dreadful. Maybe the morbidly obese Willie should go on a diet and loose a hundred or so pounds and THEN start going on about healthy eating and his "natural" fast food.

This man is a fake and a fraud. He submitted plans to the town one way and then opened up with a different layout. Blaming everything on the town when in fact he did not pay his electrician for the balance of the work $3000.00, nor the plumber’s inspection fee to the town, therefore a final inspection was never done. The town closed him down for not having a Certificate of Occupancy. This was totally all of his doing and his workers at Jack’s Shack suffered the most. They were out of a job with no income for over 2 ½ weeks and then he refused to pay them, that’s a New York State labor issue no doubt. The way he talks to his employees is another issue. He makes fun of their ethnic race behind their backs, calls them derogatory names, berates and belittles them. As for being green, organic and all natural that’s entirely a different story. This is far from a green environmentally friendly place. Nothing gets recycled, not one vegetable is organic, and all natural check out the source of his deliveries that alone speaks for its self. Now this fraud is on TV, this is equivalent to Bernie Madoff doing a segment on MSNBC money talk show!
