No Additional Injuries in Sunset Avenue Fire

Glen Cove Emergency Medical Service say all first responders “went home safely.”

There were no additional injuries reported in the Sunset Avenue fire, said the Glen Cove Emergency Medical Service Friday.

The fire, which broke out early Wednesday, caused burns to one female victim’s arms, said First Assistant Chief Matt Venturino. She was transported by Glen Cove EMS to Nassau University Medical Center Burn Unit.

On hand were two Glen Cove EMS ambulances and a first responder truck, said Venturino, who was also at the scene. Bayville Fire Company provided an additional ambulance for firefighter rehab and support.

The blaze originated from a second story kitchen around 9:17 a.m. and was put out “quickly," said Glen Cove Fire Department Chief Anthony Tripp. Firefighters used a ladder to reach the upper floors from the exterior of the house.

The burn victim and her husband were most likely making breakfast when the fire started, according to neighbors. However, the true cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Glen Cove Animal Lovers League was also among the responders. Two shelter volunteers were seen bringing out small crates from the house. The couple owned multiple cats, said neighbors.

The animal shelter could not be reached for comment.

A good 30% of Glen Cove Homes are illegally inhabited....Overcrowding, illegal architecture, and electrical by passing...Very dangerous conditions...But since in this day and age.... no one can say BOO to any... Even if they break the laws over and over....
