5 Sands Point 'Caged Cats' Land New Homes
Some rescued cats found new homes via the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League Cat Adoption Drive at Petco.
Five of the 'caged cats' found at Sands Point Preserve earlier this month were adopted during the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League Cat Adoption Drive at Petco on Saturday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 27.
Volunteers said they are grateful for the community's help in finding new homes for the cats, who were mistreated and locked in cages without food or water.
Despite their treatment, most of the cats have been nursed back to health and are well tempered, acording to shelter staff. They said the cats make "perfect" holiday gifts, and come with a unique story behind their rescue.
Police and Nassau County officials are still investigating, and have not yet commented on suspects or charges.
If you would like to adopt one of the cats, visit the Animal Lovers League at the Glen Cove Animal Shelter on Shore Road, or check out their Web site.
The North Shore Animal League in Port Washington took several of the cats as well. For adoption inquiries, visit their Web site or call 516-888-7575.

Are the police ever going to announce who did this to these poor cats and why?
