Experts say it's not too late to shed a couple of pounds.

You might be cutting it close, but there's still time to drop a couple of pounds to squeeze into your snazzy new Valentine's Day outfit.

Experts at Glen Cove exercise centers say that losing a couple of pounds is well within reach for those trying to look svelte with a last-minute slimdown.

Anthony Queliza, a personal trainer and manager at Planet Fitness, said the goal was achievable with a mix of approaches. "You have to have a clean diet, no sweets, lean meats, do some cardio, do some weights.

"There's enough time to make it," he said. "Try not to have too much sodium, try increasing water intake. That way you'll be full, not as hungry."

And if you've been a little careless, your results may come more quickly.

Craig Seltzer of Retro Fitness said, ""It's definitely doable. Someone who hasn't been exercising for a while can lose a pound or two quickly. "They're not going to drop 20 pounds but if they want to look a little better, absolutely," he said.

He said some people are still stalling, nearly six weeks into 2012. 'We're getting people still working on New Year's," he said. "It's not too late to get started."
