Bards Reading From Page One: Post V-Day Reflections

Come, one and all, to the Bards Reading From Page One poetry reading series, sponsored by The Bards Initiative! We run at Page One on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, with a new feature every time, followed by an open read where everybody's welcome to read with open arms!

Bards Reading From Page One is a fun, intimate reading, with few formailites and even fewer rules. We welcome all forms and styles of poetry equally, including whatever yours might be, so there's no excuse not to come by!

This time, we've decided to feature a theme, not a poet. So, what was this year's V-Day like for you? Did you have a date with that special someone? Celebrate with your fellow singles at a party? Completely ignore it as some corporate holiday? Did you find love? Loss? Something totally unrelated? Bring some poetry about it and read it here, because we're having an open mic, and the theme is POST V-DAY REFLECTIONS! Whether your poetry's about love, loss, or just something that happened one February 14th, bring it!

As always, get here at 7:30 to order food, because I'm starting the fun at 8!

This Bards Initiative reading series is free to attend, but your donations are greatly appreciated, every penny of which goes directly to funding our various ongoing projects throughout Long Island. In addition, head chef and co-owner Jeanine DiMenna offers up a special $5 "bar menu" at all of our readings (if you'd prefer to see their standard fare menu, price fix, or reduced-fare "bailout" menu, please ask your server). We highly encourage you to come, relax, and enjoy some dinner with your poetry.

The Bards Initiative is a multi-purpose poetry project dedicated to providing avenues for poets to share their work and encourages the use of poetry for social change. In addition, the Initiative aims to make use of modern technologies to help spread, encourage and inspire poetry particularly in the younger generations. It is the core belief of the Bards Initiative that poetry is the voice of the people and can be used to help create a sense of sharing and community.

Thank you, and I hope to see you all at our readings.

~Marc Rosen
Treasurer of The Bards Initiative and host of Bards Reading From Page One

NOTE: Even if your poetry doesn't fit the theme, bring it anyway! We'll have plenty of time at the end for an unthemed open read as well!
