Au Pairs in Nassau County provide Birthday Celebrations for homeless children

As a community outreach project au pairs with Au Pair Care in Northern Nassau County are collecting birthday supplies and gifts to donate to children in homeless shelters.
We found out about the organization, Birthday Wishes and thought it was the perfect opportunity to help those in need.  What child doesn't love a birthday party? Area Director, Ann Koster knows first hand that the au pairs enjoy the rewards of participating in volunteer work.  They return to their home countries to tell their family and friends about the difference they have made by helping in our communities.   Ann remarked, "Some children in homeless shelters on Long Island have never had a birthday party  and it's great to be able to provide them with a festive birthday celebration.  It's a way to bring  happiness to a child and a time for them to feel special!"

During April and May, the au pairs, who come from around the world to learn the American lifestyle and provide live-in childcare and cultural exchange,  will be collecting items including birthday party plates, napkins, blowers, hats, banners, goodie bags and small gifts to be made into a "birthday box". We hope to make lots of birthday boxes so many children can enjoy their special day!  If anyone would like to donate items please email akoster@aupaircare.com.
