February 2014, Long Island, NY – Glen Cove Boxing Club (GCBC) is set to host the 87th Annual Daily News Golden Gloves on Thursday, March 27th at Glen Cove High School in Glen Cove. A portion of the proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Moms Who Kick Inc, a 501(c)(3) public charity that benefits breast & ovarian cancer research, and promotes healthy lifestyles.  In addition, a donation will also be made to fund a scholarship which will be given to a graduating Glen Cove High School senior!

GCBC’s Coach Frank Pena and Former Marine Champ & Professional Boxer, Coach Billy Strigaro, both licensed with USA Boxing, will send two ladies to the Golden Gloves this year.  Emily Colon, who holds the titles of 2013 Long Island Champ & 2013 East Coast Metro Champ, and Wendy Sincuir, LI Fight For Charity contender & winner, will both represent GCBC in their quest for the Golden Glove trophy.  While the dates for both ladies’ fights are not yet released, both will be present on March 27th for the Gloves’ event in Glen Cove.

The women from local Long Island Charity, Moms Who Kick, will also be present on March 27th, and will take to the ring as Ring Card Girls while raising awareness for women’s cancers and promoting the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.  For more information and to place an ad in the GCBC’s Golden Gloves Journal, contact Frank Pena at 516-477-1361, or Joanne Hutchins, President & Founder of Moms Who Kick at 516-524-3505.
