Teen Actor Jake T. Austin Joins Staples and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to Promote Staples for Students National School Supply Drive

Teen actor Jake T. Austin is teaming up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) for the 6th Annual Staples for Students National School Supply Drive, to help members get the tools they need to prepare for the upcoming school year.  Staples store are matched with a local Boys & Girls Club to receive the donations to benefit youth who attend the Club.  Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club has been paired with the Staples branches located in Glen Cove, Manhasset and Garden City Park.

From now through September 28, Staples customers can help support Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club and the Staples for Students cause by donating $1 or more at the Glen Cove, Manhasset or Garden City Park stores, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting students at Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club. 

“We are so fortunate to be paired with not one, but three local area Staples stores.  We are grateful to Staples and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for this wonderful opportunity but more importantly, Staples for Students helps take a huge burden off our members and their families, many of whom cannot afford the cost of the school supplies and necessities which can get rather expensive,” said Melissa Rhodes, Executive Director of Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club.

“I’m so excited to team up with Staples and Boys & Girls Clubs of America for this great cause,” said Jake T. Austin.  “I’m rallying my fellow teens to get involved to help make a difference in their communities by making sure students have the essential supplies they need to succeed.” 

To kick-start the campaign, Staples will donate $125,000 worth of school supplies to the program this year.  Staples and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America will ensure that all of the donations from the local branches get to Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club in time for the new school year. Since 2008, the campaign has raised nearly $3 million for hundreds of thousands of students in need throughout the country.  Past celebrity influencers have included Jordin Sparks, Ciara, Nikki Reed, the cast of Pretty Little Liars and Bella Thorne.

Austin to support the great mission of Boys & Girls Clubs, we can ensure that students across the country can start the year off right in the classroom.”

Teens are also encouraged to spread the word on social media.  Starting July 15, they can visit the Staples for Students Facebook page where Jake will take followers through an exciting series of interactive mission videos to help drive donations.   As missions are completed, teens will be rewarded with donations on their behalf to Boys & Girls Clubs, coupon codes for school supplies and other exciting surprises.
