Morgan Park Summer Music Festival Talent Competition Announced

Morgan Park Summer Music Festival will hold its annual Young Performers Competition on Saturday, May 17  at the Parish Hall of St. Patrick’s Church, Pearsall Avenue in Glen Cove.  

This competition gives young musicians a chance to audition for an opportunity to perform at Morgan Park Summer Music Festival in Glen Cove this summer.

The competition is open to all talented young people who reside or study on the North Shore of Nassau County.

There are three cash prizes for the competition winners: $1,000 for the Winner, $500 for the Morgan Park Honor Winner, $250 for the Junior Winner. The Winner is usually in the age range of 16 to 25, but a younger winner is possible. The Morgan Park Honor winner age category is 10 to 25. The Junior Winner age category is 10 to 15.

Contestants may request an audition time from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Requests will be accommodated in the order in which they are received.

Contestants may be vocalists or instrumentalists and each is required to perform two well-prepared contrasting pieces,  or different styles, of their own choice. Contestants may perform to mp3, CD or taped music, but must bring their own battery-operated player to the audition. A piano is available if needed, but contestants must provide their own accompanist.

The winners must be available to perform at the Morgan Park Summer Music Festival in Morgan Park, Glen Cove on Saturday, July 12 Only three winners will have the opportunity to perform. Winners will receive their prizes at the conclusion of the concert.
