Beer Season: Tell Us Which Local Brew Has You Raising a Pint

Celebrate the local suds in our Drink Local open blog.

Although a new map by a hangover medicine company would have you believe New York is Blue Moon country when it comes to favorite beers, folks in this region know better. With home-grown breweries from Brooklyn to Greenport, it’s our local suds that fill our frosty glasses.

Just this week, three regional breweries won awards at the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado. Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore picked up a bronze medal for its 2013 Splashing Pumpkin Beer, Blue Point Brewing Company in Patchogue) scored bronze for its 2013 RastafaRye Beer and Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Brewery took home a bronze for its 2013 Brooklyner WeisseBeer.

So we have to ask: When it comes to the local beer, do you have a favorite? We’d like to know.
