Boys and Girls Club Honors 2 Young Members, Fitness Coordinator

Jefferson Reyes, 13, and Eduardo Mojica, 11, selected as February's Youth of the Month; John Andree named Professional of the Month.

The  announced Monday its selections for its Youth of the Month and Professional of the Month awards for February, choosing two young members for their positive attitudes and leadership abilities, according to a press release.

Jefferson Reyes, 13, is vice president of the club’s sports club. He earned the Senior Youth of the Month award for his willingness to help staff and his peers whenever asked, and for his success in and out of the classroom.

“The club is a place where I can stay out of trouble,” said Reyes, who wants to be a music teacher. He said he enjoys being a leader and bringing fresh ideas to the table.

Eduardo Mojica, 11, last month’s Junior Youth of the Month, was recognized for his ability to work as a team member in all the activities he is involved in at the club. An aspiring professional soccer player, Mojica is “always the first to compliment his peers,” the club said.

Mojica is involved in a number of programs, including the movie making club, the soccer league and the international club. He said his activities there have helped improve his performance in school.

Sports and fitness coordinator John Andree was selected as Professional of the Month six months after arriving at the club. Known to members as “Mr. John,” Andree provides instruction for a number of programs. An aspiring elementary school physical education teacher, he sees the key to success in three simple rules.

“Have fun, try hard and be positive. I feel this simple message is easy for our members to grab onto, and it easily applies to their lives outside the club as well as in their future endeavors,” said Andree.
