Five Ways to Spice up Your Glen Cove Thanksgiving

There are a variety of Thanksgiving day events planned in Glen Cove.

Looking for more than just the traditional turkey dinner at home this Thanksgiving?

Whether you are looking to ditch the bird or the apron, Patch has compiled a list of activities that will be taking place on Thanksgiving Day in Glen Cove.

 Get your metabolism revved up before indulging in turkey and pies with this mini boot camp style workout. The owners of Breakthrough to Fitness Personal Training & Nutritional Coaching and Glen Cove Fit Body Boot camps have partnered with Gold Martial Arts to bring you a free 45 minute "high intensity"," good energy" workout. Instead of using machines and weights, participants will be encouraged to use their own body weight. The session starts at 8:30 a.m. Organizers are asking that each participant bring two canned goods with them to donate to the .

 2. , 200 Dosoris Lane, Glen Cove

The mansion will have a traditional Thanksgiving buffet serving appetizers, entrees, desert and beverages. The menu will feature the traditional turkey or ham, along with filet mignon and salmon to name just a few. Two seatings are available: 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The buffet costs $49 per adult and $24 per child (four to thirteen years of age). There is no charge for children under three years of age. Private dining rooms are available upon request for an additional charge. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 516- 674-2990.

3. , 40 Hill Street, Glen Cove.

The Congregational Tifereth Israel is hosting their annual family magic show from 10 a.m-11 a.m. If your kids are bored waiting around for the turkey to cook, bring them down to see Master magician David Schwartz perform some of his latest tricks. The magic show is open to the public and is free.

4. , 235 Glen Street, Glen Cove

The church will serve a hot meal to all members of the community. The meal, which is sponsored by Boar's Head, includes turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pies, and more. There will also be entertainment for kids. The meal will be served from 12-3 p.m.

5. , 51 Cedar Swamp Road, Glen Cove

If you are looking to avoid the kitchen this Thanksgiving, then La Pace is the place for you. The restaurant is offering a three course meal, featuring an array of appetizers and entrees which include a traditional maple crest roast turkey, braised lamb shank, Florida red snapper livornese, and a roast Long Island duck. Adult plates are $39.50 per person and children under 12 are $21.50 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 516- 671-29705
