Freeze Alert Issued for Long Island

Temperatures are expected to drop into the twenties.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Long Island from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-to-upper twenties for most of Long Island and the lower twenties in the Pine Barrens.

The freezing temperatures will kill sensitive vegetation.

The region is also seeing its first snowfall of the season, but accumulation is not expected. The temperature for most of the region will reach the upper thirties.
