Glen Cove Hospital Gets Stroke Care Award

Recognition comes from American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Glen Cove Hospital has been recognized for its care of stroke patients with an award from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

The Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award was earned with a "higher standard of care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted guidelines," according to the hospital.

“This recognition demonstrates that we are on the right track and we’re very proud of our team,” said Lawrence Robinson, Glen Cove Hospital’s chair of neurology and director of stroke.

Use of guideline procedures is recommended by the associations in improving the care of stroke patients and reducing the impact of the event.

“Recent studies show that patients treated in hospitals participating in the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke program receive a higher quality of care and may experience better outcomes,” said Lee Schwamm, chair of the Get With The Guidelines National Steering Committee and director of the TeleStroke and Acute Stroke Services at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. “ Glen Cove Hospital’s stroke team is to be commended for their commitment to improving the care of their patients.”
