We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  • – Where/When: Community Room on Friday March 11 at 11:00 a.m. Why Go: Expose your kids, 18 months to three years old, to the world of music and dance. Adult registration required. Pricing: Free
  • Lucky Leprechaun Finger Puppets – Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Drive, Garden City on Saturday March 12, 2:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m. Why Go: In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, kids will have the opportunity to make leprechaun finger puppets. Pricing:  Free with museum admission.
  • Celtic Fun with Darlene Graham and the Shades of Green Band – Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Drive, Garden City on Sunday March 13, 2:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m. Why Go: Experience traditional Irish music with Darlene Graham of the Shades of Green Band as she sings popular children songs. Appropriate for ages three and up. Pricing: $4 with museum admission, $ 3 LICM members and $8 for theater only.
  • Family Nature Adventures: Wilderness Survival – Where/When: Bailey Arboretum, 194 Bayville Road, Lattingtown on Sunday March 13, 2:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m. Why Go: Test your survival skills in the woods. Pricing: Free but donations are welcomed.
  • Portledge Summer Adventures Open House – Where/When- Portledge School, 355 Duck Pond Road, Locust Valley on Sunday March 13, noon to 2:00 p.m. Why Go: Open house will introduce kids and their parents to hands on science and computer activities available at the school. For children ages two to 15. Pricing: Free
  • Walk in the Woods- Where/When: Tiffany Creek Preserve, Sandy Hill Road, Oyster Bay on Sunday March 13, 10:00 a.m. Why Go:  Nature lovers can experience a guided family hike through the forest. Meet on Sandy Hill Road, South of Meadowlark Lane. Pricing: Free
