Laura Jacoviello and Matthew Keuchler Wed

Long Island couple tied the knot in a Glen Cove winter wonderland.

An early Christmas celebration was held at the fabulous and historic on Dec. 12. That’s when Laura Jacoviello and Matthew Keuchler tied the knot with a winter wonderland/holiday themed wedding.

“We both love Christmas because we met just a few weeks before Dec. 25,” said the bride.

The couple incorporated special holiday touches throughout their reception; the bridesmaids wore deep red gowns and delicate snowflake necklaces (a gift from the bride). Snowflake lights adorned the ceiling and glittery garland lined the mansion’s staircases, creating a warm and festive ambiance.

The couple also served a signature cocktail which they called “Mistletoe Martini.”   Each dining table in the banquet room was named after a ski mountain and place cards were attached to small Christmas ornaments, which also served as wedding favors for every guest to take home.

“The whole wedding was perfect, but what we really loved was when we came out for our first dance to a slow song and then broke into a choreographed, up-beat dance to the song Dynamite,” said Laura, a personal trainer and marketing assistant. Laura, 25, and Matthew, 27, an occupational therapist, both consider themselves the class clowns of their families. The bride grew up in South Huntington, the groom in Massapequa.

They met through mutual friends and dated for three years before getting engaged. Matthew proposed on Oct. 16, 2009 while they were on a hiking trip with friends (including the couple that had introduced them). He waited until they reached the top of Mohonk Preserve and Mountain House in New Paltz. While posing for a photo atop the Albert Smiley Memorial (a tall historic castle known as "sky top"), Matthew got down on one knee and popped the question.

The newlyweds left for their honeymoon the day after the wedding, spending ten blissful days on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia.
