Littering in Glen Cove

Do you know of any consistent problem spots?

Litter exists everywhere, but there are some areas of the city where street garbage is more excessive than others.

Trash can collect outside a fast food restaurant, near a school or in some area where it is swept by the wind.

Do you know of any such problem areas? Tell us in the comments.

Outside/on absentee landlord homes.

Fast food refuse is tossed to the side of the road, sometimes out of car windows. So areas surrounding Wendy's and McDonalds are noticable. I saw a woman getting off the LIRR at Glen Street toss personal garbage on the ground. There were receptacles around, so there was no excuse. There is a lack of sensitivity or awareness (or respect).

Time to expose who John is. In front of my house at 29 Chadwick Street. I have given up the fight as my complains, suggestions, photos year after year fell on deaf ears and blind eyes back to Mayor Tom Suozzi. The strip of land across the street belongs to the City and in 94 when we moved in it was an actual dump and long term parking for area residents. I took it upon myself to clean it up, top soil it, seed it and planted some fast growing willows to stop the long term parking. As spelled out by my letters and pictures to as far back when Gergovits (can't remember the actual spelling) was in charge of public works, we being at the bottom of the hill and the city refusing to curb the south end of Chadwick Street thus retaining the abandoned strip on an embankment every time it rains all debris from the Golf cart business down are washed in front of my house....and to top it off it's a low point even to the Gaffney Street intersection with no storm drain yet hardly 30 feet away on Gaffney there is a storm drainage system (one of my suggestions to extend it). I remember back in 1998 or so sweeping the street front and filling 23 five gallon pails of sand and other washed down debris, lined them up and then called public works to come and pick them up. My father in law was home and observing the public works employees picking up the heavy pails herd them cursing me out to no end....yet I being a tiny old man could move them while they looked lik body builders could not!

Try the corner of Craft Ave and Glen Cove Ave. It's a dump over there.

@ John Doe, Thanks for the comments, but please watch the profanity so that they can remain on the site.
