Living Water for Women Holds Open House in Glen Cove Saturday

Living Water for Women, Inc., a Glen Cove-based non-profit that helps women get back on their feet if they were incarcerated in Nassau County because of drug addiction, is holding an open house. The event takes place on Saturday at 83 and 85 Glen Cove Avenue from 3-7 p.m.

Founded by Executive Director Lisa Cohn, the organization aims to help women overcome what it calls an “unprecedented surge in drug and alcohol addiction that adversely affects every member of the Nassau County community.”

Its staff and board members say they are committed to give their time and resources to see that the lives of the lives of those affected are transformed.

The program includes providing housing – to foster a conducive and safe home for abuse and addiction recovery – clothing, personal counseling with a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist, as well as group therapy, life skills training and job skills training. The kind of support is offered to help the women reacclimate into society as assets to themselves, their families and their communities.

According to the organization, part of the its addiction recovery philosophy "is to restore dignity and self-value by providing workshops and seminars that spark the flames of the innate creativity each woman has, which substance addiction quelled."
