Nearby: Living with Wildlife on Long Island

Discover why falcons, hawks, owls, opossums, and box turtles all call Long Island home.

Learn all about living with wildlife on Long Island on Sunday at the Sands Point Preserve from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Volunteers for Wildlife’s Wildlife Hospital will be onsite, introducing some of the animals in their care, including a falcon, hawk, owl, opossum, and box turtle. The organization treats an estimated 1,000 injured wild birds and animals each year.

Presenters will explain why each animal chooses to call Long Island home.  Because of the special work they do each day, Volunteers for Wildlife staff are uniquely qualified to tell us how wildlife is affected by human activity.
