Long Island Thanksgiving Week Weather Forecast

Wednesday is expected to be a rainy, tough travel day.

For many, it's a short work week, but a busy one full of shopping, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.

It's also a heavy travel week, so here is quick look at the Long Island weather forecast to help everyone through the official start of the holiday season.

MONDAY: Mid-thirties, with little chance of rain.

TUESDAY: Mid-forties, with rain possible, especially as the day progresses.

WEDNESDAY: This is the day worth watching for multiple reasons. First, for anyone traveling by plane or train, it's the busiest travel day of Thanksgiving week. Second, based on the forecast, delays are possible. There is a ninety-percent chance of rain, as a winter storm system rolls in. Fortunately for Long Island, the temperature is expected to hit close to fifty, which should keep it from being a whole lot worse.

But as one senior meteorologist explains on accuweather.com, snow is possible if the storm strengthens and draws more cold air. He, too, expects rain for this market.

THURSDAY: As for Thanksgiving, it is expected to be mostly sunny and in the mid-thirties.

FRIDAY: Much like Thursday, it's expected to be in the mid-thirties and sunny.

The forecast varies slightly depending on where on Long Island you're based. Here is a more specific forecast for various parts of the Nassau-Suffolk region:

Central Long Island

Eastern Long Island

South Shore, Nassau

North Shore
