Pet of the Week: Bear

Meet Bear, an eight-year-old mixed breed (Border Collie, Shepherd, Chow) who resides in Glen Cove with Beth Kattleman.

Bear is a shelter dog, who was adopted by Kattleman seven years ago.

“North Shore Animal League knew nothing about him - just his name and that his previous owner could no longer give him a home,” she said.

Bear is a very active dog, and loves to hike and swim in Hempstead Harbor, according to his owner. He also has many talents, one of which he already knew before meeting Kattleman. 

“He's all about the food and can sniff out a bagel under four feet of snow,” she said. “He likes to give you his paw to hold (for hours!) which is something I never taught him - he just came that way. He's like a giant stuffed animal come to life. He's affectionate and goofy and I love him!”
