Pet of the Week: Mia

Five-year-old Miniature Pinscher lives with owner Beth Losee in Glen Cove.

Meet Mia, a five-year-old Miniature Pinscher who resides in Glen Cove with her owner Beth Losee.

"She is my life," Losee said. "I've had many dogs in my time, but this one tops the cake. My little 'co-pilot' goes everywhere I go. Many, many road trips; she just loves it. What dog doesn't right?"

Losee says her Mia is agile, athletic and even jumps through hoops.

"Her first few years she was an absolute terror as far as eating things she wasn't supposed to," Losee said. "Mia ate everything and anything she could get her mouth on. For an eight-pound dog, she sure did alot of damage – my rugs, my couches, my clothes, blankets, door mats – just to name a few things.

Losee said that with age, Mia mellowed out quite a bit: "Thank God; now it's just an occasional knock over the garbage and wreck the kitchen for mommy," she said. "Overall, she really is a good dog now: loves everyone, loves to entertain and loves attention."
