The hike included overnight camping at Blydenburgh County Park and a visit to Stump Pond, one of the least developed and most picturesque ponds on the island, said Tom Marinaccio, Troop 6 Assistant Scoutmaster.

Senior scouts also made an overnight hike along the "1777 Trail" in Harriman State Park last summer, which featured a 1,000-foot elevation change.

Both hikes are part of conditioning needed for a future weeklong visit to one of the BSA's High Adventure destinations.
