Shelter Animal of the Week: Cookie

The Glen Cove Animal Shelter cares for many older cats, like Cookie. Although she's got some years on her, this lovely feline has plenty of spunk.

Cookie is a Domestic Short Hair who was surrendered quite a while ago. She is one of the many older felines the is currently caring for. However, her energy and playfulness makes it hard for visitors to believe she is already seven years old.

She is a very sweet cat, and her good-natured demeanor is hard to ignore. She is a medium size with a black coat. What makes Cookie unlike every other black cat are the light gray, almost white, circular markings just above her large green eyes.

Garfield, who was featured in December, was in the same clan as Cookie and both entered the shelter at the same time. The previous owners could not care for them anymore. Shelter staff highly encourages dual adoptions for cats, especially if they are known to get along with one another.

All of the shelter's pets are either spayed or neutered before adoption, and given all proper shots and medical attention if needed.
