Shelter Animal of the Week: Noelle

This holiday season, bring home Noelle, who is a lovable and sweet German Shepherd.

With the holiday season in full swing, consider opening your heart and sharing your home with an animal, such as Noelle, from the Glen Cove Animal Shelter.

The appropriately named canine is an eight year-old German Shepherd who is a former animal cruelty case. She was a mere 45 lbs. when she was brought to the shelter two weeks ago. Her family did not feed her, provide her with shelter, or give her the medical attention she needed after being hit by a car.

Despite her stormy past, she is truly a miraculous animal that is full of life. She is playful, friendly, energetic, and is not afraid of strangers. She welcomes everyone she meets with a smile and a big wag of her tail.

Noelle is currently awaiting surgery to repair the damage caused by the car. However, she will be available for adoption shortly afterwards. Right now, the shelter is working hard to get her back to a healthy state.

"Through all her troubles, she's still a sweet, sweet dog," said Diane, an employee of the Glen Cove Animal Shelter. "We're hoping to raise some money for her surgery."
