Yom HaShoah, which is Hebrew for Holocaust Remembrance Day, is designated as a universal day of commemoration for the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazis, during WWII.  It is also a day to honor and recognize the bright light of bravery and resourcefulness of the Jewish resistance during that dark period.
