VIDEO: Power Restored to Glen Cove Businesses

Glen Cove stores opened for business Monday as LIPA employees worked to restore power.

The day after Hurricane Irene swept through Glen Cove, city residents,  and business owners have all joined in the effort to move forward after the storm.

Workers from LIPA were seen in droves working to restore power to the city. Workers at the Pearsall Avenue main feed said they hoped to resolve power issues for many of the homes affected by outages north of the feed. While the number of outages has risen to over 6,000 - possibly due to the estimation process - the ETR is set for 9 p.m., according to the LIPA outage map.

Rail service remains suspended on the Oyster Bay line Monday, with no news of service restoration.

"I missed work today," said Glen Cove resident Rob Grabowski.  "Hopefully the service cancellations will be resolved for tomorrow."
