See what's new with the Glen Cove After Three program.

The following is an update from the Glen Cove Youth Bureau:

Here at the Glen Cove After 3 program, we have many exciting events occurring!  As the first cycle comes to an end, we are getting ready for our winter student showcase presentation.  Connolly Elementary School’s showcase will be held on January 28th.  Deasy and Gibbin Elementary Schools as well as Finley Middle School’s showcase will be held on January 29th. Lastly, Landing Elementary School’s showcase will be held on January 30th and all three showcase presentations will begin at 5:00pm.

All of our students have truly been putting their best efforts and creativity into producing educational, fun projects to show to their parents, teachers and their community.  Participants in the Glen Cove After 3 program will also be performing a few different entertaining acts that they have been practicing since September.  Our participants are truly excited and really looking forward to shining at their showcases!

At our Finley Middle School program, the Kiwanis Club students have been working extremely hard at raising money and receiving food donations for those in need. The students plan on cooking meals and delivering the food to those in need within the Glen Cove Community.  The Kiwanis club has recently held their installation dinner to induct the students into Kiwanis.  We here at the GCA3 program couldn’t be happier and more proud of our participants.

At our newest programs for Deasy and Gribbin Elementary Schools, the students are constantly raving about the fun and creative projects that they have been working on and they can’t wait to show off their work at their showcase.  The students are consistently involved and broadening their minds with new information and facts on our current educational theme of Traveling the USA.  The GCA3 participants have been exploring the history of theme parks around the USA as well as the different state monuments, food, and culture that encompass our country.

February 3rd starts our second cycle here at the Glen Cove After 3 program.  We offer tons of activities for our youth to participate in and enjoy.  Art, Cooking, Career Exploration, Introduction to Film Production, Kiwanis Club, Music, Positive Youth Development, Science, and Introduction to the Spanish language are just to name a few.  Along with these activities, students are able to partake in educational activities led by our group leaders.

During the second cycle, the participants of the GCA3 will be focusing on Important People Who Impacted America.  The students will research and learn about the most influential figures in American History such as explorers, authors, political figures etc.  The students will also have a chance to explore the different individuals who have impacted the cooking, music, art, and film industries as well as create projects just like those who have become famous.

Students and staff here at the GCA3 program are looking forward to another fun filled, successful cycle.  If you would like to join the Glen Cove After 3 program, please contact our office at (516) 277-1303 or inquire at your child’s individual school.  We accept students from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  We hope to see you soon!
