Downtown Sounds Returns for 2012

Gary Lewis & the Playboys opened the summer concert season.

Seasonable heat waves were barely cooled by the time thousands had arrived in Village Square Friday for a concert headlined by Gary Lewis & the Playboys, the kickoff of Glen Cove's 2012 Downtown Sounds series.

"We knew it'd be hot this year, so we bought a misting tent for the concerts this year," said Francine Ferrante-Koehler, executive director of the Glen Cove Downtown BID.

Ferrante-Koehler toted the 2012 series' .

"This year's series will also feature a Father's Place Redux, with Eppy from [the famous nightclub] as a special emcee," she said.
