Gilbert & Sullivan Meets Broadway Musical Theater

I’ve Got a Little Twist by the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players takes center stage at Morgan Park Summer Music Festival on Sunday, July 29.  The show, which was originally scheduled for last summer but cancelled due to Hurricane Irene, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Morgan Park.

Take classic Gilbert & Sullivan wit and patter. Mix it liberally with Broadway musical theater. The result: The Mikado meets The Music Man, H.M.S. Pinafore sails to Brigadoon and The Pirates of Penzance frolic On the Town. In this totally original show, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, the nation’s preeminent interpreters of Gilbert & Sullivan’s light operettas, have some fun with favorites by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Lerner & Lowe, Sondheim, Jerry Herman and more.

Morgan Park Summer Music Festival is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that has been providing free concerts in the park for 53 years.  The shows are completely funded through the generous donations that are received from businesses and individuals.   Taxpayer money is not used to bring this high aliber talent to the Festival year after year.
