Morgan Park Summer Music Festival Hosts the Northeast Navy Showband

On Saturday, July 31, Morgan Park Summer Music Festival hosts the patriotic and always popular Northeast Navy Showband from Newport, Rhode Island. The show, which is free to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m.

Navy bands have always been an integral part of the naval presence in Newport, dating back to the Civil War period. The Northeast Navy Showband, Northeast's big band jazz ensemble, is one of the most sought-after big bands in the region. The Showband performs a variety of musical styles from straight-ahead swing to funky contemporary big band. The ensemble travels extensively throughout the northeast region of the United States, giving public concerts, music clinics, and performing for jazz festivals.

So come on down to Morgan Park on Saturday, July 31 and enjoy a wonderful evening of family entertainment under the stars.  Bring a blanket or chairs and picnic if you wish.  Children are welcome.  Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in Morgan Park.  Morgan Park is located on Germaine Street at the end of Landing Road in Glen Cove.  In the event of rain, the concert will be held in St. Patrick's Parish Hall, Pearsall Avenue, Glen Cove.  For further information, call (516) 671-0017.  Email us at morganparkmusic@yahoo.com or visit us at www.morganparkmusic.org.
