Glen Cove's Sabrina Ali Headed for Stardom

Glen Cove High School sophomore's new song gets attention on YouTube.

Glen Cove vocalist Ashanti hit it big several years ago, now it may be time for Sabrina Jasmine Ali, a 16-year-old student at Glen Cove High School.

Sabrina's new You Tube video of her performing It's Not Worth The Fight has already received over 300 views since it was posted on Tuesday.

The song was written especially for Sabrina by another very talented Glen Cove resident: Eren Cannata of the Bernie Williams Band, co-written by Chris McDonald and recorded at Cannata's .

Richie Cannata is a well known musical talent himself, having recorded and performed on saxophone with Billy Joel. .

"I am very grateful to Eren, Richie and his staff for all the help they have given me, and thrilled about being on YouTube," Sabrina said.

Sabrina's mother Shehnaz filmed the video seen on YouTube. Shehnaz, who was in Bollywood films in her native India, has lived in Glen Cove for more than twenty years.

. The search was sponsored by La Fuerza Unida and The Glen Cove Arts Council and was held at Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club.

Over the past year, Sabrina has performed at events for , , La Fuerza Unida, and other events in Glen Cove. She also sang at the opening of the Fall Fair at  St. John's of Lattingtown, and was subsequently invited to join the St. John's choir directed by Eric Milnes.

Sabrina will perform a solo of O Holy Night and sing ensemble pieces with the choir at the upcoming Christmas Cabaret and party at St. John's Parish Hall on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
