Jack O'Lantern Trail Drawing Large Crowds

Local artists, sculptors carve 5,000 pumpkins for Old Westbury Gardens exhibit, open weekends in October.

Throngs of people of all ages showed up at Old Westbury Gardens in Westbury over the weekend to see "Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns," an exhibit of more than 5,000 carved pumpkins that is on display each weekend in October.

Dozens of carvers created the multitude of Jack O'Lanterns, and will still be at work replenishing the display as pumpkins rot and are removed.

The event is in its first year. A limited number of tickets are available each night of the rest of the weekends in October, with some sold out already, according to the exhibit's website.
