Photography Students' Work Displayed at NYC Exhibit

Glen Cove High School junior wins second place for flower close-ups.

Glen Cove High School junior Ana Jaco is one of seven students from Melissa Johnides's photography class whose work is on display at a Manhattan exhibit through Friday.

Jaco won second place overall for her submission to the Professional Women Photographers Ninth Annual Student Exhibit. Her macro images of flowers won her a cash award and the distinction of being the second Glen Cove student to place in the contest.

The other students with work displayed are Kayla Blihar, Iris Brody, Jackelyn Hayduk, Jessica Reynolds, Sara Tenke and Bryana Vasquez.

The pieces are on display at the Calumet Gallery on West 22nd Street until Friday.

This is the third year Johnides's students have had work exhibited.
