The Kennedy Era Revisited in Theater

A dramatic presentation in Port Washington.

Writers and actors William and Sue Wills brought their historical show, “Presidents and Their First Ladies, Dramatically Speaking,” to The Amsterdam at Harborside in Port Washington earlier this month.

The show highlighted not only key events in the lives of John and Jacqueline Kennedy, but also evoked the 1950s and 1960s, including the moment when the president was shot.

The Wills have produced their series on presidents and their wives since 1991. William researches and writes the initial script, which Sue edits. She also creates the costumes. With a total of 33 presidents covered, the couple sticks to a formula: follow the historical record, and bring out the personal side of the historical figures.
