Middle School Student Found After Apparent Suicide
Police: 13-year-old Glen Cove girl dies at home.
Police responding to a 911 call Tuesday night of a girl falling out of a window are treating her death as a suicide, according to Glen Cove Police.
Police and Glen Cove EMS members rushed to the scene when the call came in at 9:58 p.m. The girl, 13, was a seventh grader at Finley Middle School.
An investigation is underway, and police are awaiting autopsy results from the Nassau County Medical Examiner.
"Thus far the investigation has not developed any information indicating that the victim was being bullied," Glen Cove Police Lt. John Nagle said.
Students at the school have been provided access to grief counselors for help coping with the loss of their classmate.
