Sea Cliff Boaters Rescued Near Execution Rocks in Sands Point

Boaters now safe.

It may not have been the ideal day to go boating Thursday, but that didn’t dissuade two people from a Sea Cliff area beach from heading out onto the Long Island Sound.

When the boaters were reported missing, marine units responded. Just after 5 p.m., rescuers were searching the water between Morgan Memorial Park and Hempstead Harbor. Area first responders were alerted, including the Port Washington Fire Department.

Nassau County police found the boaters near Execution Rocks by Sands Point, Glen Cove police confirmed.

Port Washington Fire Chief Ray Ryan said the boaters were found just minutes after the department was alerted.

“They are both fine and are now home,” a Glen Cove police spokesman told Patch at about 6:30 p.m.
