Bites Nearby: Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek combines fine dining with reasonable pricing.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek – the restaurant that has taken the place of  – is buzzing with business, especially on the weekends. With great-tasting food at a reasonable price, it’s no wonder.

There’s a sultry ambiance to the establishment, which can be attributed to the dimmed lights and modern interior. Upon being seated, there is nothing more to do than relax. The wait staff is attentive and diligent about making sure their customers’ needs are met.

The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Each course was also very well-portioned.

Besides more traditional American dishes, such as the “Grown-up Grilled Cheese” and “Meyer Ranch All-Natural Prime Angus Burger,” there are a few interesting menu items worth trying: the "Cracker Jack salad" (which includes crispy calamari, caramel corn and peanuts, arugula, onions and apple cider vinaigrette) which is sure to be a total taste thrill.

Their “Blue Plate Specials” feature a different entree each night at a great price.

Cedar Creek is on Facebook and, for those interested in getting a glimpse at the menu, they also have a Web site.

Reservations are highly recommended.

75 Cedar Swamp Rd., 516-656-5656. Open Monday - Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prices: $10 to $30 for entrees.
