City Businesses Love Mother's Day

Glen Cove restaurants and stores offering specials in honor of the national holiday on Sunday.

Mother's Day will be here shortly and businesses in Glen Cove are looking to help you make your mother feel special this holiday.

Gift of Pampering

In honor of Mother's Day, chiropractor and wellness consultant Dr. Maxine Cappel Mayreis is offering free 20 minute professional massages to all women this month.

"Mothers work so hard," Mayreis said. "They are often overworked and underpaid. They use and abuse their bodies. They often bear the stress of the whole family and this is our opportunity to help the deleterious effects on the body."

Mayreis is offering the massages out of her Brewster Street office and they will be completed by a professional massage therapist.

"Mom can have 20 minutes of her own," Mayreis said. "I want to honor mothers for all their devotion and service to families and for their hard work in raising successful children."

To set up a massage for your mother or the important lady in your life, call (516) 759-7702.

Gift of Fine Dining

If going out for brunch with your mother is more your style, the Mother's Day deal at Page One Restaurant on School Street just may be a perfect fit for you. The restaurant is offering a pre-fix menu on Sunday for $29.95, which includes a soup, salad, a choice of an entrée and coffee. The children's price is $15.95.

"We want to make people happy on Mother's Day," said Peter Antomopoulos, the restaurant's owner. "It's a special day."

The Metropolitan catering hall on Pratt Boulevard is offering a Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests will be able to select from an array of foods and desserts at different stations. Adults are $39.99 and children under 10 are $15.99. For reservations, call (516) 671-4444 or e-mail contactus@themetopolitancaterers.com.

Gift of Accessories

If a keepsake is more to your liking, Accent on the Home on Glen Street is having a Lenox sale this month. All Lenox is 30 to 50 percent off. One item made especially for mothers is the Butterfly Meadow Line, which includes butterflies, flowers and ladybugs. Accent on the Home also sells furniture, accents and accessories.

"These make great gifts for mothers and grandmothers," said Caitlin Brooks, a sales associate at the store. "We have a large floor space and a great selection and we offer great discounts on all furniture."
