Glen Cove Cinemas, which was set to re-open Thursday, has postponed the big event until Thursday, April 10, according to its Facebook Page.

Theater owner Jay Levinson said there would be a ribbon-cutting Thursday, at 11 a.m., according to Newsday.

"Due to technical issues with equipment and regulations we are very sad to have to postpone our Grand Re-Opening until next Thursday, April 10, 2014," a message on the theater's Facebook page said.

The message continued: "We are very sorry, but we also want to make sure you know we want it to be perfect and completely updated and beautiful and safe for all our customers! We wouldn't have it any other way Please tell your friends so they wont be disappointed and as soon as we have all the details for next week we will let you know! We met many of the local business people yesterday and they were all lovely and we look forward to working with you all."

Thursday's grand opening will include a red carpet and appearances by Captain America and Spider-Man characters, according to Newsday. The day will also offer free showings to all films except for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which premieres that evening.
