Glen Cove Gets It Theater Back

The theater reopened Thursday.

Thursday marked the re-opening of Glen Cove Cinemas on School Street.

The theater is complete with new seats, six big screens, a second-floor children’s birthday party room, a new concession stand and a new arcade.

"It's a community that's been starving for a theater," Jay Levinson, a co-partner of the theater, told Newsday.

“When the former movie theater operator closed the doors, it didn’t just affect our residents who traveled out of town to see a movie, it devastated a number of our local businesses that relied on the movie traffic,” Mayor Reginald Spinello said.

Levinson also operates movie theaters in Merrick and East Northport.
