Is Hess the only gas station working in town?
Lynn November 1, 2012 at 09:24 pm
Also La Pace, Rivera Grill and Razzanos Market are open.
Lynn November 1, 2012 at 09:25 pm
Also CVS next to McDonalds is open, and Glen Cove Chemist
Micah Danney (Editor) November 1, 2012 at 09:43 pm
Just confirmed that Sunoco and Mobil are also open, but as with Hess, they have gas at varying times as they wait for deliveries. Long lines at each when they do.

Thank you.

Where is the mayor? Why is he in New York City instead of standing in front of City Hall so we can ask him why we do not even see a Lipa truck here? Why isn't he more like Governor Christie, involved with his people?
Micah Danney (Editor) November 1, 2012 at 10:35 pm
Mayor Suozzi is walking out of City Hall now, in fact. Over the past several days I have personally seen him all over town. I do not have any information that he has left town at any point.
anna sequoia November 1, 2012 at 10:40 pm
His assistant told us today when we went to see him that he was in New York City. Why is he not pushing Lipa to hurry up and get power back to Glen Cove? Our relatives in Hewlett have had power since yesterday. Why do they have more influence than Mayor Suozzi?
anna sequoia November 1, 2012 at 10:46 pm
glen Cove open for business? Not. We have no power in our homes. The Mayor is not visible. There are no repair vehicles from Lipa. A few stores are open. Not many. The rest of us are cold and can't take a warm shower. Where is Mayor Suozzi in all this?
Micah Danney (Editor) November 1, 2012 at 10:48 pm
I'm speaking with Suozzi now in his office, he confirms he hasn't left the city since the storm. From my discussions with him and with LIPA's chief operating officer yesterday, it is not a question of influence but of logistics. We have an update coming on that in the next few hours.
anna sequoia November 1, 2012 at 10:50 pm
If he didn't leave the city, why did his assistant tell us today that he was in NYC? Is she a fibber-McGhee?
anna sequoia November 1, 2012 at 10:55 pm
Let's face it. The Mayor is not visible. He is no Governor Christie. There is a reason he was reelected by so few votes. This is a time or all of us to bring Glen Cove together and get some service from Lipa.
Michael Bruschini November 1, 2012 at 11:22 pm
Anna, check out the Mayor's Facebook. He is constantly updating residents on the situation with good, useful information.
Micah Danney (Editor) November 1, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Not sure who exactly you spoke with, but he has been in the field and conference-calling with LIPA twice daily.
Frank D'Ambra November 1, 2012 at 11:58 pm
The Mayor isn't a problem, my office in Franklin Sq is without power and no LIPA visible there either. If you want to see outages google lipa outage map to see areas that are out and where LIPA supoosedly has crews. I drove around FSQ today to see if I could spot that crew and couldn't, plus the affected customer total hasn't changed all day...
Justin lee November 2, 2012 at 02:11 pm
Glen cove liquors is open
ResidentX November 2, 2012 at 02:17 pm
In all these days, NOT A SINGLE LIPA truck in Glen Cove. Are they waiting for the weekend for overtime pay?
Jim H November 2, 2012 at 03:33 pm
You should really make a note of which businesses that are open, are open because they are running off generators and which ones are open because they never lost power. It's nice that the mayor is on Facebook, what is he doing, conversing with Justin Bieber? He should be on News12 bringing attention to Glen Cove, is he waiting until someone he knows is killed at one of the intersections withought lights?
Justin lee November 2, 2012 at 03:52 pm
Also Justins toys
Daria Hoffman November 3, 2012 at 02:11 pm
The Downtown business district on School Street has no power therefore Glen Cove is not open for business. The restaurants, other stores, and the many doctors offices are all without power.
Jim H November 4, 2012 at 01:50 pm
Why is there no power going to the School Street area? Where is the mayor? Is he in Bermuda?
Jim H November 4, 2012 at 06:49 pm
How about reporting which traffic lights are working in Glen Cove
Dulce Delights November 4, 2012 at 07:46 pm
Dulce Delights Frozen Yogurt is open!
Rose November 5, 2012 at 07:31 pm
frost pond rd is up - but a few homes are notincluding my parents.... my mom is at 17 frost pond rd and is oxygen dependent along with a CPAP at night to sleep. Very difficult for her to go back and forth each night to ensure she is hooked up to a CPAP/oxygen. Is there anyway LIPA can go back to Frost Pond Rd to ensure these fews homes are connected sooner than later?
Jim November 5, 2012 at 11:34 pm
The downtown School street area had their power restored around 8pm Sunday night. The Glen Cove Theatres, Starbucks, American Cafe, and La Familia are all open.
Nick DiLeo November 6, 2012 at 12:33 am
Thanks to Michael Bruschini for dependable, reliable reporting to the city during this storm and the days thereafter.
