Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Winner
Find out where the most popular spot in Glen Cove is to celebrate Irish culture this year.
Glen Cove Patch opened its poll Wednesday to allow readers the chance to decide where to go in town for the best St. Patrick's Day experience, and the winner is: the Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade!
The parade won with 48 percent of all votes cast - that's 18 votes out of a total of 37.
Deputy mayor Maureen Basdavanos will serve as the 24-year-old parade's grand marshal. She continues a family tradition that started when her father, Michael Moran, an Irish immigrant who settled in Sea Cliff, founded the event with Division 8 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in 1989.

"It's a really nice hometown parade," said Basdavanos, adding that it is one of the most well-attended in the city all year.
Highlights to watch for: the marching bands, pipe bands, large balloons and Irish step dancers.
