Glen Cove Seeking to Attract New Businesses Downtown

Market study data to be used in recruitment effort.

The results of a comprehensive market study conducted by the city will now be used in a campaign to attract businesses in downtown Glen Cove.

The study began in October 2012 and was designed to continue efforts to improve the downtown shopping, dining and entertainment experience. The City sought public participation as well as input by local businesses, organizations and stakeholders to share their ideas regarding the type of stores, restaurants, businesses and other improvements that would make their experience more appealing. The findings of the above described market study were presented at a public meeting held on April 25, 2013.

The study titled “Downtown Gateway to the Waterfront Phase II Implementation Plan,” was approved by the New York State Department of State and prepared with funds provided under Title 11 of the Environmental Protection Fund. The City encourages business owners, residents and visitors to visit the City of Glen Cove website at www.glencove-li.us and download the study.

The City of Glen Cove, under the direction of Glen Cove Community Development Agency’s Executive Director, Kelly Morris, is pleased to now launch a widespread recruitment effort in cooperation with the Glen Cove Business Improvement District and Chamber of Commerce, to use the data compiled under the study to bring awareness to prospective businesses, property owners, real estate professionals, banks and financial institutions to attract new businesses into the area, while we retain and/or expand existing businesses in the process.

The City’s recruitment effort will include of a series of mailings to a growing prospect list, with postcards, letters, a fact sheet and color brochure depicting photos of our beautiful and unique City, along with economic and demographic data, maps and contact information to solidify implementation.

“Much time and effort went into this market study and I am confident that the marketing materials prepared for the launch of this recruitment effort demonstrates the opportunities the City of Glen Cove has to offer to prospective businesses, while enhancing the economic health of our existing businesses,” said Glen Cove Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi.
