Happy Thanksgiving: What's Open, Closed in Glen Cove

Many retailers and some restaurants here are open today; some on reduced hours.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, there is much to be grateful for.

Today is a national holiday, which means all federal, state and local government offices are closed. Banks and the financial markets are closed. There is no postal delivery.

if you're heading to the big parade in Manhattan, the Long Island Rail Road is operating on a holiday schedule, but has 22 additional trains system-wide for those headed to and from the parade. Off peak fares apply Thursday as well as Friday, when the LIRR will operate on a near normal weekday schedule. Extra cars are being added to trains.

Most supermarkets in Glen Cove are open Thursday morning but will close by mid-afternoon.

The same is true with the area's most popular eateries: For example, the Glen Cove Bagel Cafe is open from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Most fine dining restaurants are closed in Glen Cove this evening.

I think the best course of action would be to contact any board member (their emails are listed) andRead More see what he or she has to say about it. That's one source that I would find reliable on this.
