High Schooler Gets Honorable Mention for Essay

Glen Cove High School's Gaby Morales honored for essay on dreams for the future.

Glen Cove High School freshman Irma Gabrielle Morales, or "Gaby," as her friends know her, received honorable mention for an essay she submitted to a contest for students who speak foreign languages, the Glen Cove school district announced Monday.

The essay went with the theme, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Morales wrote about her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She wrote the piece as a student in Briana Fazio’s ESL class at Finley Middle School.

It was submitted to the 2012 New York State Teachers of English to Speakers of OtherLanguages (TESOL) Essay Contest. The essay will appear in the 2012 NYS TESOL Conference program.
