JoJo Apples Closed for Business

An employee at the restaurant's Point Lookout location confirmed the restaurant is closed.

JoJo Apples Cafe Too has closed its doors for good, according to the restaurant's sister location in Point Lookout.

Locked doors and a darkened interior were an ominous sign of the popular eatery's fate earlier this month. Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce executive director Phyllis Gorham said she had heard rumors that it had closed but had not heard why.

The building's owner, who asked not to be named, said the restaurant faced high operating costs.

"It was hard for them to make it in Glen Cove. The tax burden on the property is way, way too high," he said.

The closing comes weeks shy of JoJo Apples' two-year anniversary in February.

The restaurant received positive reviews in Glen Cove Patch's Readers' Choice contests last year, taking second place for Best Pancakes and Best Spot for Mother's Day Brunch.
